ALEXANDER JAMES ROUSSEL

May 27, 1988 — September 5 , 2023

Alexander James Roussel, a native of Berwick and a resident of Lafayette, was called to his heavenly home at the age of 35.

A wonderful son, great brother, and loving friend, Alex was larger than life (both literally and figuratively). He never had a bad hair day, knew the words to every song and had the talent to hold a whole conversation using just movie quotes. Hilarious, Alex had the kind of humor that kept everyone laughing. People gravitated toward his bigger than life personality. Art and writing were his passions in life. Alex was happiest sitting at a coffee shop for hours drinking coffee, painting, writing poetry, and just being creative. When not in his own creative world, Alex was putting his green thumb to use in his garden. He often referred to his plants as his children. Alex was a proud graduate of Berwick High School, UL where he received his Bachelors Degree, and Liberty University where he received his Masters in Theology. After his extensive education, Alex used his abilities to teach others in both Art and English. His actions, words, and thoughts will echo through his students from this day onward.

Alex was blessed with a wide circle of love and family. Those loved ones include his parents, Greg and Paige Roussel; his siblings, Peytyn Johnson and her husband, Jayson, Shanna Oubre and her husband, Gregory, and Cooper Roussel and his wife, Shannon; his birth parents, Tim and Donna Morgan; his birth siblings, Aaron Morgan and his wife, Katie, Elizabeth Morgan and her husband, Samuel, Emma Morgan and her husband, Neil, Michael Morgan, and Ella Morgan; his maternal grandparents, Dr. Charles and Sandi Guarisco; and his birth grandparents, Judy Shields, and Monique Hudman.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ronald and Myrna Roussel; and his birth grandparents, Jean Angeron Sr. and Michael Morgan.

The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance for Alex be observed on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at Hargrave Funeral Home. A Celebration of Alex’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12 noon at Hargrave Funeral Home with Alex being laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum following services.
