Berwick installs anti-litter signs

The town of Berwick has installed new litter enforcement signs through the state’s Keep Louisiana Beautiful Litter Enforcement Sign Project, an initiative supported by Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser to help keep Louisiana communities clean.
The signs are being placed at strategic locations throughout Berwick to discourage littering and illegal dumping while reminding residents and visitors of Louisiana’s litter laws. Each sign also displays the statewide litter reporting hotline, 855-LA-LITTER (855-525-4883).
Residents who witness someone littering from a vehicle or illegally dumping trash can call the hotline to report the incident. Callers should provide the location, a description of the violation and, when possible, the vehicle’s make, model and license plate number. Photos or videos may also help investigators, but are not required.
Reports are reviewed by enforcement personnel, and violators may face citations, fines or other penalties under state law.
The initiative is part of a broader statewide effort led by Keep Louisiana Beautiful to reduce litter through public education, community partnerships and stronger enforcement. State law was also strengthened in 2025 through Act 67, which expanded Louisiana State Park Rangers’ authority to enforce litter laws statewide.
