Obituary: Doris Pennison Bertrand

October 16, 1928 — October 17, 2026
Little did we know that Saturday, October 17, 2026, would be the last day we would see Doris Pennison Bertrand. Our beautiful angel passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 98.
While our hearts are broken, they are also full. We know her beloved husband and son were waiting for her at the pearly gates (more than likely working on them), while her other children played behind them. We feel so blessed that our family had the opportunity to know and love Doris. She was a special part of our family and her love will live on through all of us.
Those left to cherish Doris’ wonderful memories are her children, Diane Amador and her husband, John, Isaac Bertrand, Lynn Plaisance and her husband, Edmond, and Larry Bertrand; her daughter-in-law, Karin Bertrand; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bertrand Sr.; her children, Barbara, James Jr., and Jeffrey Bertrand; her parents, Adam and Lena Pennison; her siblings, Adam Pennison Jr. and Jean Pennison Blanchard.
The family requested that a time of visitation be observed Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services, which begin at 1:00 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
