Johnson named to Louisiana High School Hall of Fame

Baton Rouge – Former Franklin Senior High four-sport athlete Adrienne Johnson was among 10 people named to the Louisiana High School Hall of Fame for its Class of 2027, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced recently.
Johnson joins former Franklin basketball teammate Alexis Rack in the Hall of Fame. Rack was honored this year.
The LHSAA said the honor recognizes the 10 individuals whose accomplishments and contributions have left a lasting mark on Louisiana high school athletics.
The 2027 class represents a wide range of roles within high school athletics, including coaches, competitors and officials. Collectively, the class has produced state championships, All-American honors, professional careers, distinguished coaching records and decades of service to Louisiana’s student-athletes and athletic programs.
Joining Johnson in the Class of 2027 are David Anderson, Don Boniol, Greg Gautreaux, Kim “Gidge” Guidry, Early Doucet, Temeka Johnson, Jimmy Lee Jones, Sivi Elsensohn Miller and Rusty Rugg.
Adrienne Johnson was a four-sport standout at Franklin Senior High School, earning letters in basketball, track, volleyball and softball. She was a four-time All-State selection in both basketball and track and earned All-District honors in basketball, track and volleyball.
She was named the 2007 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year and Class 3A Basketball MVP. In track, she won the high jump and triple jump state championships in 2006 and the triple jump again in 2007.
Her success continued at the collegiate and professional levels. Johnson was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2011 and earned All-Conference and All-Defense honors three times. She was also named an AP All-American honorable mention selection in 2011 before being drafted by the Connecticut Sun. Johnson went on to play professionally in Bulgaria and Italy, earning first-team honors in both leagues.
The Louisiana High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Thursday, April 15 at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge. Additional information regarding tickets and the event will be released closer to the ceremony.
