Sheriff's Office: Jail inmate attacked deputies

A parish jail inmate attacked deputies, briefly gained control of a Taser and injured at least two deputies, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
St. Mary
Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:
--Jonathan Matthew Piriou, 25, Tampa, Florida, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging disarming a police officer, resisting an officer, resisting an officer with force or violence, battery of a police officer (injury, medical attention), battery of a police officer, attempted escape and simple robbery.
On Sunday, a disturbance occurred at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in which multiple deputies were injured.
A corrections deputy entered an area where offender Piriou charged at the deputy. The deputy deployed a taser but it was unsuccessful. A struggle ensued and during the incident, Piriou forced his way out of the cell and into the hallway.
He ran to the door but was unable to open it because it was secured. At that time, he again turned to the deputies and began to punch and attack. Several deputies were subsequently able to detain Piriou, but he was able to gain control of the taser for a moment.
Piriou was returned to his cell, and two deputies were sent to a medical facility due to injuries they sustained during the altercation.
An investigation into the incident was conducted, and Piriou was charged. Bail for all his charges has been set at $235,000.
--William D. Brimzy, 33, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of violation of protective orders. Bail was set at $10,000.
--Antanacio Guerrero, 64, Morgan City, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 1:30 p.m. Monday on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, introducing contraband into a penal institution, obstruction of justice and possession of a legend drug without a prescription.
Bail was set at $65,000.
--Catina Marie Butler, 51, Franklin, was arrested at 7:05 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated and battery of emergency room personnel. Bail was set at $5,000.
--Anthony Noel Jr., 36, Thibodaux, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Saturday a warrant for Lafourche Parish alleging failure to appear in a child support case, and on a separate warrant alleging first-degree robbery. Noel is being held for another agency.
--Blake Joseph Billiot, 42, Franklin, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. Sept. 10 on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail was set at $3,000.
--William Ollie Ware III, 37, Franklin, was arrested at 2:38 a.m. Sept. 11 on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail has not been set at this time.
--Hope Lin Cubbedge, 47, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of theft. Bail was set at $2,500.
--Jessie Cephur Davis, 34, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday on a charge of second-degree battery. Davis continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
--Mark Anthony Hilliard, 43, Patterson, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday on a charge of second-degree battery. Hilliard continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
--Quincy Jacoby Jones, 40, Franklin, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday on a charge of second-degree battery. Jones continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
--Walter David Rodriguez Carias, 19, Metairie, was arrested at 8:33 p.m. Saturday on charges of turning movements and required signals; vehicle entering roadway from private road, driveway, or alley; driving on divided highways; one-way roadway and rotary traffic islands; aggravated flight from an officer; driving on roadway laned for traffic; obedience to police offices (weights, standards); and traffic control
Bail was set at $112,000.
--Tina Stelly, 55, Shreveport, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 4:58 p.m. Sept. 10 on charges of improper lane usage, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
--Steve Scully Sr., 60, Morgan City, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 4:58 p.m. Sept. 10 on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Sept. 10, narcotics detectives were stationary on East Main Street near Ratcliff Lane in Ricohoc when they observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction and conducted a traffic stop.
Contact was made with the driver, Stelly, and her passenger, Scully. As the investigation progressed, drugs were found, and both Stelly and Scully were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Bail was subsequently set at $91,000 for Scully and $71,500 for Stelly.
Morgan City
Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:
--Raul Navarez, 64, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
--Kerwing Benitez-Deleon, 26, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Tuesday on charges of contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court), possession of synthetic cannabinoids (second offense) and introduction of contraband into a jail.
--Kenneth Washington, 29, Mike Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday on three counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
--Alex Dunlap, 28, Diane Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of driving while intoxicated (second offense), open container, possession of marijuana (under 14 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage.
--Dennis De Leon-Sanchez, 28, Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:58 p.m. Monday on a charge of no seat belt and no driver’s license, and on a hold for immigration.
--Isaac Hernandez-Guevara, 21, Helen Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:58 p.m. Monday on a charge of driving while intoxicated, no driver’s license and general speed law.
--Wyatt Hettinger, 19, Garber Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward City Court).
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
--D’Eros Soto, 17, Velma Court, Bayou L’Ourse, was booked Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
The charges arise from an April 20 incident.
Deputies were dispatched to a Velma Court address in reference to a disturbance involving the use of a firearm. Deputies made contact with the complainant, who advised he was performing mechanical services on a vehicle owned by Soto. At some point, the two engaged in a verbal
altercation.
During that altercation, Soto threatened the complainant. As Soto drove off, he allegedly fired three shots from his vehicle.
At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies secured arrest warrants for Soto.
On April 22, Soto was arrested by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office on local charges there. He was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
Soto was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on pending a bond hearing.
Franklin
Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:
--Tyrone Freeman, 57, La. 87, Franklin, was arrested at 12:56 a.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia and proper equipment required on vehicles. Freeman was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
--Tristan Hanley, 29, Williams Street, Franklin, was arrested 12:56 a.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and contraband into a penal institution. Hanley was booked, processed and held with no bond at the time of press
release.
