Ribbon-cutting opens new Morgan City Archives

Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival Queen Isabelle Hernandez and King Louis Tamporello Jr. cut the ribbon Thursday to open the new Morgan City Archives at 506 First St. The archives have been moved over the last year from a three-story building to quarters with better access to the city council records, church records, newspaper files, historical items and more that are part of the archives collection. Among those attending the ribbon-cutting were state Rep. Beryl Amedee; Laura Meadows from state Sen. Robert Allain's office; Morgan City Council members Thomas Hutchinson, Bonnie Leonard and Steve Domangue; city Chief Administrative Officer Charlie Solar; Judge Ed Leonard; St. Mary Chamber board and staff members; and archivist Greig Chauvin.
