Wanted bike-rider now faces drug charges

A bike rider who was wanted on a battery charge ended up facing drug possession charges as well, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Brandon Matthew Steele, 43, Bayou Black Road, Gibson, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of Klonopin, and on a warrant alleging simple battery.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed Steele riding a bicycle in the area of La. 662 and Felicia Street in Bayou L’Ourse and was aware that Steele was wanted on an outstanding criminal arrest warrant from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy observed Steele discard a backpack. Steele was arrested and acknowledged the presence of methamphetamine in the backpack as well as multiple doses of Klonopin on his person. Deputies were able to locate and seize both substances.

Steele was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

--Lucas Joseph Lang, 38, Timothy Street, Pierre Part, was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of Klonopin, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance Law, three counts of resisting an officer and 10 counts of violation of protective orders.

--Lillian A. Cavalier, 63, Timothy Street, Pierre Part, was arrested Tuesday on charges of violating protective orders and resisting an officer.

Lang and Cavalier were both served with protection orders arising from prior domestic incidents. As part of those protective orders, Lang and Cavalier were ordered not to be found within 100 yards of the protected person.

On Tuesday evening, deputies observed Lang and Cavalier to be in violation of their respective protective orders while at a civic function in Napoleonville. Lang and Cavalier were both arrested.

During a search incidental to arrest, Lang was found to be in possession of a quantity of Klonopin and drug paraphernalia.

Lang and Cavalier were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending bond hearings.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Steven Davis, 50, Versen Street, Berwick, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday on two counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--William Moore, 28, Victor II Boulevard, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday on charges of hit and run, driving under suspension and following too closely.

--Justin Lacaze, 34, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--David Chauvin, 37, Choctaw Street, Franklinton, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday on charge of driving while intoxicated, reckless operation and disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

--Josiah Swan, 23, Chester Bowles, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday on charges of front lamps required and possession of synthetic cannabinoids.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Alejandro Valero Gutierrez, 40, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of domestic abuse (child endangerment law). Bail has not been set at this time.

--Bradley Joe Griffin, 46, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday on charges of speeding, reckless operation (no accident), open container, stop signs and yield signs, and resisting an officer by flight.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Terrance Andre McClain, 44, Franklin, was arrested at 8:51 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana, driver must be licensed, no insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia, no vehicle registration, and stop signs and yield signs.

--Seth Aurelius Kidder, 46, Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Monday on charges of domestic abuse (child endangerment law) and domestic abuse battery by strangulation. Bail has not been set at this time.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--Amber Duhon, 41, Kirk Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on charges of turning movements and required signals and expired driver’s license. Duhon was booked, processed and held on a $125 bond.

--Dyjawyne Darby, 24, of Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 3:04 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of prevention of youth access to tobacco law. Darby was booked, processed and released on a $500 bond.
