Jeanerette man arrested in Four Corners shooting

St. Mary deputies arrested a Jeanerette man after investigating a Monday shooting in the Four Corners area.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported this arrest:

--Dondrea Johnson, 38, Jeanerette, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging aggravated battery and illegal use of weapons.

Deputies were sent about 11 a.m. Monday to the Four Corners area after reports of gunfire on La. 318.

They located a male victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was promptly transported to a local medical facility for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation into the incident. Following the collection and review of evidence from the scene, a suspect identified as Johnson was developed.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and were able to locate and apprehend him quickly. He was subsequently transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, where he was booked.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators have indicated that additional charges are pending at this time.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Trey Allen Duet, 26, Teddy Street, Belle River, was arrested Monday on charges of domestic abuse battery (child endangerment) and false imprisonment.

The charges arise from a domestic incident Monday afternoon in Belle River.

Deputies were dispatched to the location and made contact with the victim, who indicated that she is in a domestic relationship with an individual now identified Duet. The victim indicated to the deputies that over the past three days she was physically and mentally abused by Duet.

The victim further reported that on Monday afternoon, Duet threw a chair at her. At some point, the victim attempted to leave the residence, but Duet physically stopped her from leaving.

Investigating deputies observed injuries to the victim allegedly caused by Duet. Deputies further recovered other corroborating evidence in support of the victim’s statements. The victim was transported to a health care facility for treatment.

At the time of the reported violence, minor children were present.

Duet was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Jerry T. Phelps, 44, Jones Street, Berwick, was arrested at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday on charges of criminal damage to property and failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Alec Briggs, 23, Fairhope Drive, Ponchatoula, was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday on charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless operation of a vehicle.

--Danny Fulks, 41, Verdunville Road, Franklin, was arrested at 9:30 a.m. Monday on a charge of simple burglary.

--Amber Stratton, 32, Carol Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:03 a.m. Monday on a charge of failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Jesse Hart, 33, Gabriel Street, Patterson, was arrested at 11:39 a.m. Monday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported this arrest:

--Dietesha Butler, 37, Patterson, was arrested at 10:53 a.m. Monday on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (first offense), open container in motor vehicle, and operating a vehicle while license is suspended or revoked. Butler was booked, processed and held on a $14,500 bond.
