Area arrests result in assault, burglary charges

Area law enforcement agencies reported arrests for burglary and assault this week, including one for assault with a firearm.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Andrew Lee Goleman, 47, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of simple assault and two counts of simple battery. Bail was set at $5,500.

--Isai Nunez-Ortega, 26, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:58 p.m. Monday on a charge of simple burglary. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Rosa Adilia-Sanchez Santos, 48, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:58 p.m. Monday on a charge of simple burglary. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Jerry Henderson, 48, Amelia, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 3:16 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Bail has not been set at this time.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Krista Chenelle Thompson, 33, Oakville Lane, Belle Rose, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant alleging aggravated assault with a firearm.

The charge arose from an incident July 23 near Belle River.

On July 23, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Cross La Rue Street in reference to a disturbance. Deputies made contact with one of the parties involved in the disturbance.

Through investigation, deputies were able to identify Thompson as one of the parties involved in the disturbance. Deputies determined that the two individuals were in a relationship and had been involved in an altercation.

At some point, Thompson returned to the Cross La Rue Street residence armed with a handgun and pointed the handgun at her former domestic partner. Thompson left the residence but was later located by deputies. Thompson claimed to be ill and was transported to an area
hospital.

Deputies applied for an arrest warrant for Thompson, which was granted.

Thompson turned herself into the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where she remains
pending a bond hearing.

The other party to this investigation was previously arrested and posted bond.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Ward Carlson, 65, Pecan Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

--Humberto Arauz-Acosta, 60, Wren Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:52 p.m. Monday on a charge of contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Clarissa Brown, 28, Caribbean Drive, Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested 7:43 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of marijuana (more than 14 grams).

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--Juvenile was arrested at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of disturbing the peace (language).

--Wilfred Babino, 67, Hopkins Street, New Iberia, was arrested at 8:08 a.m. Tuesday on charges of speeding and threatening a law enforcement officer. Babino was booked, processed and released on a $725 bond.

--Terran Ballet, 23, Bud Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday on charges of illegal possession of stolen firearms, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, possession of a machine gun and flight from an officer. Ballet was booked, processed and held on a $95,000 bond.
