Obituary: Larry Shirey

Larry Shirey, 79, a resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
Larry was born August 11, 1946, in Covington County, Alabama, the son of Connie Johnson.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two sons, James Shirey and wife Tiffany, and Larry Shirey and wife Kathryn; grandchildren, Addie, Sophie, Ryan, Maggie, and Grey; brother, Jimmy Johnson.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Johnson; wife, Kathryn B. Shirey; sister, Pam Phillips.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., July 25, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Brett Lapeyrouse officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m., until the time of Mass. After Mass, Larry will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum. A reception will be held immediately following services at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall.
