
MCPD: Four arrested in investigation of multiple burglaries
Four St. Mary residents have been arrested in a long-term investigation of burglaries throughout the Morgan City area, Morgan City police said Wednesday:
Items taken in the burglaries include jewelry, household items, tools and copper wire.
Arrested were:
--Elton Pinn, 42, Barrow Street, Morgan City, on three counts of simple burglary.
--Curtis Richard, 49, River Road, Berwick, on charges of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, simple criminal damage to property and five counts of simple burglary.
--Justin Adams, 48, Patton Street, Morgan City, on charges of criminal trespass, felony theft ($1,000-$5,000) and three counts of simple burglary.
--Kelly Landry Wiggins, 44, Patton Street, Morgan City, on a charge of accessory after the fact to felony theft ($1,000-$5,000).
The Police Department said the investigation, which continued for several months, involved homes as well as businesses.
According to the MCPD, through the collection of evidence, witness interviews, surveillance footage, and other investigative techniques, detectives were able to develop leads that resulted in the arrest of several individuals believed to be connected to these crimes.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, the Police Department said. Detectives continue to pursue additional leads, identify other individuals who may have been involved and work to recover stolen property connected to these burglaries.
These burglaries affected both homeowners and business owners throughout the community. The theft of personal belongings, tools, and other property can have a significant financial and emotional impact on victims, the Police Department said.
