Bayou Bend adds urology to clinical services
Bayou Bend Health System announced the expansion of its clinical services with the addition of urology care, led by Kelly E. Bewsey, MD, PhD.
As a board-certified urologist, Bewsey brings over 20 years of advanced expertise and a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating conditions of the urinary tract and male reproductive system.
Bewsey earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, followed by a Ph.D. from Rush University in Chicago. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago and his urology residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.
In addition to his clinical work, Bewsey has served as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.
Most recently, Bewsey practiced as a locum tenens physician, providing urology services at WellSpan Spalding Regional Hospital, North Fulton Hospital, and West Georgia Medical Center in Georgia. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology.
The addition of urology services enhances access to specialized care for patients in the region. Services include the evaluation and treatment of conditions such as kidney stones, urinary tract disorders, prostate conditions, and other urologic concerns, allowing patients to receive high-quality care close to home.
“We are excited to add another specialty physician to our group,” said Stephanie Guidry, CEO of Bayou Bend Health System. “As the needs of our community continue to evolve, particularly with an aging population, access to specialized urologic care is both timely and essential.”
Bewsey will begin seeing patients in Suite C of the Bayou Bend Medical Office Building located at 200 Medical Dr. in Franklin on Monday. New patients are welcome. For all inquiries or to schedule an appointment, please call 337-907-6762.
