Fire severely damages Morgan City business

An early morning fire Monday caused extensive fire damage to Charming Nails in the 6400 block of La. 182 at the Colonial Plaza shopping center. Next door, the Vibe Gift Shop sustained smoke damage, and on the other side of the nail salon, GoAuto Insurance was damaged by fire and smoke. The alarm came in after 1 a.m. Monday. The Berwick Fire Department answered the call for assistance. Fire Chief Alvin Cockerham said no one was injured by the fire, and the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
