Illustrator will sign books Saturday at MC library

Michele Olinde, illustrator for the book “What Do You Want to Be? ABC," will be at the Morgan City Public Library 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday for a book signing.
The book was written by Rickey Pittman.
Olinde is a mixed media artist based in West Monroe. She majored in advertising design, illustration and drawing. She was formally trained in a variety of media at Northeast Louisiana University.
After graduating, she returned to Northeast to earn a master’s degree in education with a minor in history.
For about 30 years, her focus has been on art programs at the high school level in northeast Louisiana, mainly teachubg talented gifted art for ninth- through 12th-grade students.
Her personal work has been displayed in various art exhibits in northeast Louisiana, competitions throughout the state as well as internationally with the Delta Kappa Gamma online art gallery.
Olinde has been chosen four times for her designs in the community-business heron contests sponsored by the University of Louisiana-Monroe professors.
Her favorite subjects are mixed media portraits, whimsical ink drawings and romantic landscapes with a loose impressionistic style.
Olinde recently retired from teaching and is concentrating on her work with Pelican Publishing.
