'Ada' director will appear in Franklin, Baton Rouge

Local people can get a look at a short film based on a notorious Morgan City murder case and talk to the writer-director twice this weekend, at Franklin and Baton Rouge.
Matison LeBlanc, who is also producing the feature version of the film, will detail plans for “Ada and the Doc,” which is set to film in Morgan City this year.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, LeBlanc will appear at the Teche Theatre, 501 Main St., Franklin, for her presentation, followed “by a screening of the proof-of-concept short film” and aquestion-and-answer session.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased with cash or by Venmo.
IMDb describes the film this way: “In 1927 southern Louisiana, subversive housewife Ada LeBoeuf is put on trial alongside her alleged lover for the grisly murder of her husband in one of the most explosive sex-murder trials ever reported.”
IMDb says the stars are Chelsea Bryan, Matthew Paul Martinez and Patrick Logan.
On Sunday, a discussion of the film will be part of “Her Lens – Louisiana Women in Film” 4-7:30 p.m. at the Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge. The event includes Louisiana short films, live music, yoga, art vendors and card games by women for everyone.
The “Ada and the Doc” screening and a question-and-answer session will be 5:20-6:20 p.m. Tickets will be $15, payable by cash or credit card, or purchased in advance at ManshipTheatre.org.
