The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce put its business spotlight this week on Cabot Corp., the carbon black operation that employs more than 150 people in St. Mary Parish. The Chamber praised Cabot for its St. Mary Clean Energy partnership with Cleco; a $40,000 grant to the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department; a $2,500 sponsorship for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Science and Tech Week; supporting 100 Black Men and the Soul Food Festival; $1,200 for Toys for Tots; and an Earth Day clean-up in Franklin for seven straight years.
