MC police, deputies report nine drug-related arrests

Law enforcement agencies reported nine arrests this week on drug possession or paraphernalia charges, seven of them by Morgan City police.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 86 calls for service over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Gannon Broussard, 35, Railroad Avenue Morgan City, was arrested at 3:54 a.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to property and lights required.

--Timothy Collier, 26, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana (first offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer and five counts of failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Angelle Mabe, 19, Fourth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense), possession of drug paraphernalia and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. (Released on summons.)

--Donzell Gaskins, 34, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia. (Released on summons.)

--Randy Clark, 38, Frontage Road, Morgan City, was arrested on at 7:15 p.m. Monday on charges of failing to signal, driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia. (Released on summons.)

--James Robinson, 56, Duke Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:18 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Sylus Vanheverbeke, 22, Trevino Street, Berwick, was arrested at 11:29 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense), tint violation and improper display of license plate.

--Andrew Byers, 62, First Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, improper lane usage and failure to yield.

--Brian Justilian, 58, Glenwood Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:31 p.m. Monday on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Zakari Valentine, 20, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. Monday on charges of disturbing the peace, aggravated assault, resisting an officer, battery on an officer and failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 39 complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Donna Reed, 54, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Monday on charges of theft and possession of methamphetamine. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Jared Paul Duplechin, 48, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and introduction of contraband into a penal institution, and on a failure to appear warrant.

--Dylon Jude Chellette, 31, Schriever, was arrested at 3:29 a.m. Tuesday on charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension and driving while intoxicated. Bail was set at $3,750.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Alvin Robinson Jr., 51, Morgan City, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 7:36 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear for a child support hearing. Bail was set at $30,052.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 15 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and this arrest:

--Marco Vasquez, 47, El Campo Road, Brownville, Texas, was arrested at 10:40 a.m. Monday on charges of speeding and reckless operation. Vasquez was booked, processed and released on a $643.50 bond.
