Cajun Coast Classic competition

Horseshoe pitchers from15 states, including some of the nation's top-ranked competitors, are in St. Mary Parish this weekend for the Cajun Coast Classic at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson. In the top photo, Dwain Arceneaux of the local Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association throws for the 40-foot championship against multiple champion Don Watson of Alabama. In the bottom photo, Doris Hieden of Texas, left, competes for the 30-foot title against Marlene Ray of Tennessee. Heiden, Ray and Ray's twin sister, Maxine Griffin, occupy three of the top five spots in the national rankings.
