Candidate announcement: Jean Paul Bourg

Dear Citizens of Morgan City,
I am Jean Paul Bourg, and I am running for Morgan City Council – District 2. I would like to clear the record on why I am running for this seat. I have worked for the taxpayer for the last 15 years of my life. In these 15 years, I have worked for the children of this parish as a math teacher, the City of Morgan City as the public works supervisor, our local drainage district as the treasurer/secretary, and our parish government as the Director of Public Works and Chief Administrative Officer. During these years of service in local government, I have learned a lot about our city, drainage system, and flood protection system.
My only motivation to run is to use this experience to help move Morgan City forward. Back in August, I called our mayor to make it clear to him that no one put me up to run for city council, and I told him that I could be an asset to the city council and help him just like I helped him when we worked on the drainage district together. We served together on the St. Mary Parish Consolidated Gravity Drainage District #2 for 4 years.
My motivation to serve as your city councilman is only to improve the community where I live, where I grew up, and where I am raising 3 children. As an investor in our community and local business owner, seeing Morgan City grow and prosper is my ultimate goal for the citizens of Morgan City and for our children.
