Eagles defeat 5A team
Central Catholic evened its record at 2-2 Thursday by playing giant-killer.
The 1A Morgan City school knocked off 5A Central Lafourche 31-21.
In Friday night action, Assumption downed Morgan City High 55-7; Berwick scored a 53-7 homecoming victory over Thrive Academy (see related story); Franklin downed Patterson 30-8 in the Lumberjack homecoming game; Centerville hammered Gueydan 56-8; Elton was a 46-14 winner over Hanson Memorial; and Jeanerette overwhelmed West St. Mary 54-8.
For Central Catholic, some Eagles put up NFL-style numbers Thursday, starting with quarterback Benjamin Case.
Case hit 20 of 36 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown. He ran for two touchdowns in a 7-for-41 rushing performance.
Case’s top receiver was Landon Ramagos, who caught eight passes for 136 yards, including a 55-yarder. Drake Rock caught four passes for 59 yards.
Tate Fontenot was the leading ground gainer with 75 yards on 16 trips, including a 37-yarder and a touchdown.
Also Thursday, Cash Baker rushed four times for 13 yards.
Among receivers, Xalien Hebert caught a pass for 13 yards; Greg Hamer one for 15; and Landon Lipari and Dominic Lipari one pass for two yards each.
