UPDATED: RUBY JOUBERT PELLERIN
Ruby Joubert Pellerin, a resident of Bayou Vista for nearly 60 years, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in the early evening hours of Saturday, September 7, 2024, just 22 days shy of her 89th birthday. Ruby was born on September 30, 1935 in Opelousas, the second of seven children born to the union of Herbert and Marie Joubert. Ruby was the epitome of what a wife and mother should be, living every day for those she loved. She was a woman of deep faith and cherished her Catholic roots.
Those she leaves to cherish her beautiful memory include her five children, Ruby Lemoine and her husband Jimmy, Keith Pellerin, Craig Pellerin and his wife Deb, Carl Pellerin and his wife Rosie, and Kathy DeHart and her husband Rogers Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Pellerin; 30 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Wills and Mary Ann Turner; her brother, Kenneth Jaubert; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Herman Joseph Pellerin Sr.; her son, Herman J. Pellerin Jr.; her daughter, Eve Suttoon; her parents, Herbert Joubert Sr. and Marie Sonnier Joubert; her great great grandson, Aubrey Monté; and her brothers, Herbert Joubert Jr., Donald Joubert, and Chris Joubert.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at St. Stephen Catholic Church Hall in Berwick from 12:00PM until 2:00PM with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 1:00PM.
Funeral services will be held Friday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick during a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Father Sal Istre will be the Celebrant for the Mass with Father Angelo Cremaldi concelebrating. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jimmy Lemoine Jr., Justin DeHart, Ryan Pellerin, Seth Pellerin, Kyle Pellerin, and Jonathan Cutrone.
