Three St. Mary students receive LSU degrees

LSU awarded 1,061 degrees to graduates at the university’s 317th commencement exercise recently, the highest number of degrees awarded during summer commencement ever.
Among them were three students from St. Mary Parish.
The previous record was 1,037 graduates in summer 2023. These new LSU alumni and their hometowns can be viewed on the LSU Graduates List and the LSU Commencement website.
This summer, 26 students graduated with honors.
The graduating class represents 41 Louisiana parishes, 47 states, and 36 countries. Women comprise nearly 60% of the class, and men comprise about 40%.
The youngest graduate is 19, while the oldest is 69 years old.
“No matter if you live in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Los Angeles or London, we need you to go out with great pride in all that you accomplish. We know that with an LSU education, your preparation matches the challenges ahead,” said LSU President William F. Tate IV.
Graduates receive a digital version of their diplomas on graduation day — inspired by the diploma awarded to students in 1899 ––along with a diploma cover. Printed diplomas were shipped to graduates.
