Morgan City police make arrest in rape investigation

A 17-year-old from Belle Rose has been arrested on charges that include first-degree rape, Morgan City police said.

K'Lance E. Robertson, 17, Daggs Street, Belle Rose, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile, pornography involving juveniles and distribution of pornography involving juveniles in addition to the first-degree rape charges.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division began an investigation July 16 regarding allegations of an improper relationship between an adult and a juvenile, police said. Robertson was identified as the suspect in the investigation.

Robertson allegedly was involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with the juvenile victim. Reports indicate that various social media accounts and devices were used in the production and distribution of media involving the juvenile victim. Evidence was uncovered linking Robertson to the investigation which subsequently resulted in arrest warrants being prepared for his arrest, police said.

On Tuesday, Robertson was located and arrested in Assumption Parish, with the assistance of the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office. Robertson was booked into the Morgan City Jail, where he now awaits court proceedings.
