Pedestrian killed by train may not have heard it approach

The pedestrian struck and killed by a train Monday appears to have been wearing headphones and may not have been aware of the danger, Patterson Police Chief Garrett Grogan said.

Police identified the fatality as Keven Tirrell Pierre, 28. The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m.

Pierre lived on the south side of the railroad tracks in Patterson and was known to have walked across the tracks to a convenience store north of the tracks, Grogan said.
