Trio brings jazz to Monday concert in Morgan City

The Jason Fabus Trio, a staple in the budding Los Angeles jazz and swing dancing scene, is the next act to appear in the Morgan City Live Community Concert Association.
The trio will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
Single concert tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for K-12 students. Season tickets are now on sale for the 2023-2024 concert season. All tickets, subscription or single concert, are available online at  www.morgancitylive.com or at the door.
The jazz group is led by saxophonist Jason Fabus. 
Their 2018 debut album “Splanky” was received well, currently boasting over 1.5 million streams on Spotify and regularly airing on Siriusly Sinatra on SiriusXM Radio and KJazz 88.1FM in Los Angeles.
The group focuses on tight and swinging arrangements of songs on alto saxophone, vocals and piano from the Golden Era of American Music.  Many of their jazz standards are from the Twenties to the Fifties.
They evoke the stylings of the Nat “King” Cole Trio, and Fabus has often been likened to the sound of Paul Desmond.
 The Morgan City Live Community Concert Association of Morgan City Inc., formed in 1947, continues to bring world-class entertainment to the Tri-City area of Morgan City, Berwick and Patterson, as well as the rest of St. Mary Parish and surrounding parishes.
