Five drug arrests reported by local authorities
Five arrests on drug charges, including possession of heroin and another that was accompanied by a stolen weapon charge, were among six arrests reported Tuesday by local agencies.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 30 complaints and made these arrests:
--Ashley Nicole Clark, 38, Patterson, was arrested at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting officer by giving false information. Clark also held a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of leased movables. Bail has not been set at this time.
--Larry Dean Robertson Jr., 29, Four Corners, was arrested at 2:58 p.m. Monday by the Narcotics Section on charges of entering contraband into a penal institution and possession with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids, and on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. Robertson also held a Franklin Police Department warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and illegal possession of stolen firearm.
Additionally, a hold has been placed on Robertson due to an active warrant with Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office. Bail has not been set at this time.
Morgan City
Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 49 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:
--Bryson Skinner, 28, Grace Street, Amelia, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. Monday on charges of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
--Zalaya Fryer, 18, Garber Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:14 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana and improper lane usage.
--Shawnna Johnson, 31, Robin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of MDMA, possession of marijuana, driving under suspension and disregard of traffic controls.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
--Mark Andrew Rentrop Jr., 30, La. 663, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and turning movements and required signals.
The charges arise from a traffic stop late Saturday evening on the La. 182 Frontage Road in Amelia.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Rentrop.
The deputy conducted an interview and at its conclusion decided that additional investigation was warranted. At some point, Rentrop acknowledged the presence of drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. Those items were seized.
During a pat-down search of Rentrop, a quantity of suspected heroin was recovered.
He was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center with bond set at $50,000.
