Sheriff: Failure to answer fishing, drug-related charges results in arrest

St. Mary deputies arrested a Theriot man who is accused of failing to appear to answer illegal fishing and drug-related charges.

Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 44 complaints and made these arrests:
—Junius Seymore Verret Jr., 55, Theriot, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Monday on three warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of undersize crabs; taking oysters from an unapproved area; illegal use, consumption, possession, or distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17; possession of drug paraphernalia; improper child restraint; and operating a vehicle without a license.
Bail has not been set.
—Brady Paul Rodriguez, 30, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:29 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail has not been set.
—Devontre O. Richard, 24, Berwick, was arrested at 2 a.m. on charges of maximum speed limit, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Richard was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
—Quantravious R. Hill, 23, Patterson, was arrested at 2 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of possession of marijuana. Hill was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
—Benjamin Pittman Jr., 19, Morgan City, was arrested Monday on charges of turning movements/required signals and possession of marijuana. Pittman was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
