Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
--Quincy James Johnson, 27, Halsey Street, Morgan City, was arrested Friday on charges of possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, unlawful use of body armor, tail lamps required, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and flight from an officer.
The charges arose from a Friday night traffic stop near Amelia.
An I.C.E. assigned deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle refused to pull over and continued on for some distance.
The deputy was able to stop the vehicle and make contact with the driver, identified as Johnson. The investigating deputy interviewed the driver and noted conditions consistent with illegal drug activity.
The deputy opted to conduct a protective pat down search of Johnson which produced a quantity of suspected marijuana. At this time, the deputy noted that Johnson was wearing protective body armor, which is prohibited by Louisiana law.
