Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
—Jeremy Paul Jordan, 42, Eighth Street, Orlando, Florida, was arrested Thursday on charges of prohibited acts Schedule I (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding 69 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The charges followed a traffic stop in Pierre Part on Thursday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on La. 70 in the vicinity of Derrick Street. The deputy initiated a stop of the violator vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Jordan.
The deputy noted the driver as non-compliant and at some point, detained Jordan and conducted a pat down search of his outer clothing for purposes of officer-violator safety.
The deputy noted paraphernalia present in the vehicle and requested the presence of a K-9 unit. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in a quantity of marijuana and assorted paraphernalia being seized.
Jordan was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
A passenger in Jordan’s vehicle, Fonda Leeann Cooper, was cited for possession of marijuana and released.
