Morgan City man arrested on sex crime charges

Morgan City police arrested a Federal Avenue man on charges of molestation and indecent behavior, according to local police reports.
Morgan City
Chief James F. Blair reported that over the last 24-hour period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 36 calls for service and made these arrests:
—Melvin Brown, 41, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:08 a.m. Thursday on warrants for molestation of a juvenile and indecent behavior with juveniles.
—Wybra Jone, 40, Diane Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:33 p.m. Thursday on Morgan City Court warrants for failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Shelia Kimbro, 47, Orange Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for identity theft.
—Randolph Hall, 50, Main Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for cruelty to animals.
—Edward Gil, 43, Kimberly Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:49 p.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace.
—Jewel Ross, 37, North Verret Street, Amelia, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Thursday on charges of failure to appear to pay fine on charges of disturbing the peace, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and made these arrests:
—Tyus Jones, 21, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:21 a.m. Thursday on charges of driving under suspension and expired license plate. Jones was released on a summons to appear July 22.
—Raven Dawn Legnon, 29, Jeanerette, was arrested at 9:21 a.m. Thursday on a charge of driving under suspension. Legnon was released on a summons to appear July 22.
—Sylvester Louis Lee Francois, 23, Patterson, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Thursday on charges of domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse child endangerment law and violation of protective orders. Francois was released on a $8,500 bond.
—McGill Conway Parfait, 48, Houma, was arrested at 5:20 p.m. Thursday on a charge of reckless operation (no accident). Parfait was released on a summons to appear July 22.
—Albert O. Wilhite Jr., 25, Cedar Hill, Texas, was arrested at 3:20 a.m. Friday on a charge of theft (motor vehicle). No bail has been set.
—Anna Samone Loudd, 19, Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested at 3:21 a.m. Thursday on a charge of theft (motor vehicle). No bail has been set.
—Donna Davidson, 61, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. Friday on a charge of prostitution. Davidson was released on a summons to appear July 22.
Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported these arrests:
—Christopher Patterson, 21, Keith Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for disturbing the peace.
About 4:06 p.m. Thursday, Patterson turned himself into the Berwick Police Department on an active warrant for disturbing the peace. The warrant stems from a complaint in February in which Patterson was yelling and causing a disturbance in a residential neighborhood but left prior to officers arrival.
Patterson posted a $201 cash bond.
—Benjamin Cheramie, 50, Second Street, Berwick, was arrested at 1:36 a.m. Friday on two St. Mary Parish warrants for failure to appear for child support.
About 1:30 a.m. Friday, officers observed Cheramie at a local business. A warrants check showed that Cheramie had active child support warrants through the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office as well as active warrants through Probation & Parole and the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Officers, with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, made contact with Cheramie and advised him of the outstanding warrants. Cheramie was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked on the active warrants.
A hold was placed on Cheramie for the Probation & Parole and Assumption Parish warrants.
St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Jason Covington, 38, Forest Drive, Axis, Alabama, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear.
—Tory Phillips, 30, St. Martin Street, Lafayette, was arrested Thursday on charges of second-degree murder/non-negligent manslaughter; possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs; manufacture, distribution and possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs; and criminal conspiracy.
—Hailee Romero, 21, Arnould Boulevard, Lafayette, was arrested Thursday on a charge of failure to appear.
—Emmanuel Sylvester, 36, Red Barn Road, Cecilia, was arrested Thursday on a charge of violation of a protective order and simple possession of marijuana.
—Joseph Sylvester, 30, Valsin St. Breaux Bridge, was arrested Thursday on warrants for failure to appear and extradition.
—Derek Williams, 30, Main Street, was arrested Thursday on charges of stalking, violation of a protective order and simple criminal damage to property ($1,000-$50,000).
