Bicentennial fundraiser set Jan. 25
The City of Franklin has announced a bicentennial fundraiser to take place on Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Center.
Tickets are $10 each and will purchase the bearer a “Louisiana catfish and shrimp dinner with french fries.”
The Mayor’s Office said of the event, “If you enjoyed the City of Franklin’s New Year’s Eve Bicentennial Kickoff Celebration, then help us create a bigger more extravagant ‘City of Franklin’s Bicentennial Celebration’ in April 2020!
“If you loved seeing the diversity of people dancing to Johnny Chauvin & Mojo Band, Cupid & Dance Party Express and D.J. Fab, then all we ask is for you to purchase one ticket to continue our goal to #RevitalizeFranklin.
“Enjoyed the largest fireworks display ever in Franklin? Help us do it again! Purchase 1 ticket!
“If you teared up watching the lamppost lower from the courthouse and felt your sense of community pride surge higher than it’s ever been, all we ask is that you purchase 1 ticket!
“If you want to feel that same excitement again, purchase 1 ticket.
“Our goal as a city is to totally fund each and every bicentennial event with donations, sponsors and fundraising! With that being said we would like to thank our sponsors that are helping to make the Louisiana catfish and shrimp dinner possible. We cannot thank the following people and organizations enough for making this possible:
“All seafood was acquired by a grant from the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.
“Franklin Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeios and the Franklin Fire Department will be cooking and preparing the food along with volunteers from my administration helping to serve.
“Super 1 Foods, and Parish President David Hanagriff donated the needed items to ensure that the City of Franklin makes 100 percent profit to go towards the bicentennial celebrations.
“Tickets may be purchased from City Hall or any of the Bicentennial Committee members that have tickets. #RevitalizeFranklin #UnderTheLampposts #Bicentennial #Franklin2020”
