Police: Three arrested after officers respond to drug activity
Three people were arrested Friday in Morgan City after officers located them while responding to a report of narcotic activity on Mallard Street, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—SirTerrance T. Skipper, 32, of Mars Hill Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested at 4:10 p.m. Friday on charges of resisting an officer, possession of MDMA, possession of marijuana first offense, obstruction of justice, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws-drug-free zone, introduction of contraband into a penal institution, a fugitive warrant and a 16th Judicial District Court warrant charging him with failure to appear.
—Nikita Danyell Smith, 33, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:10 p.m. Friday on warrants charging her with three counts of failure to appear in court.
—Joseph Skipper, 64, of 27th Avenue in Glendale, Arizona, was arrested at 4:10 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear for trial.
Officers responding to narcotic activity on Mallard Street came into contact with SirTerrance Skipper, Smith and Joseph Skipper. A warrant check revealed SirTerrance Skipper, Smith and Joseph Skipper had warrants for their arrest.
When officers attempted to arrest SirTerrance Skipper, he fled on foot from officers. Pursuing officers took him into custody after a brief foot chase, Blair said.
SirTerrance Skipper, Smith and Joseph Skipper were transported to the police department. Once at the department, officers located suspected marijuana and MDMA concealed in SirTerrance Skipper’s socks, Blair said. He attempted to discard the suspected marijuana and MDMA while officers were searching him, Blair said.
During the booking process, police learned that SirTerrance Skipper was a fugitive from probation and parole in Indiana. Smith and Joseph Skipper were also booked on warrants for City Court of Morgan City.
Blair reported that officers responded to 106 calls and reported the following arrests:
—Patrel M. Jenkins, 44, of Oak Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:35 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with improper supervision of a juvenile. An officer came into contact with Jenkins on Oak Street. She was arrested on a warrant and jailed.
—Korianne Marie Parker, 30, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:50 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear to pay a fine. Parker was located at the police department and arrested on a city court warrant. She was jailed.
—Lionel Mitchell, 56, of Freetown Lane in Labadieville, was arrested at 5:53 p.m. Friday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant charging him with failure to appear for arraignment.
Officers came into contact with Mitchell on North Third Street. A warrant check revealed Mitchell had a 16th District Court warrant for his arrest. He was jailed.
—Kevin Edward Quigley, 32, of Charlisa Springs in Katy, Texas, was arrested at 3:19 a.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of marijuana first offense.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on La. 182 and identified the passenger as Quigley. During the traffic stop, Quigley was found in possession of suspected marijuana, Blair said. He was jailed.
—Nikki Rene Mayon, 37, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:03 a.m. Saturday on a charge of driving under suspension and a warrant charging her with failure to appear to pay a fine.
—Raymond Miller, 29, of Vivian Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 11:03 a.m. Saturday on a warrant charging him with two counts of failure to appear for arraignment.
An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Brashear Avenue and 8th Street. The driver was identified as Mayon and the passenger as Miller. A warrant check revealed City Court of Morgan City had warrants for both Mayon and Miller. They were jailed.
—Junior R. Adams, 38, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Saturday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant charging him with failure to appear.
An officer came into contact with Adams at a local hotel on La. 182. A warrant check revealed 16th District Court had a warrant for his arrest. He was jailed.
—Juan Feliciano, 26, of Shannon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:08 p.m. Saturday on charges of DWI first offense, careless operation with an accident and two counts of child restraint violation.
Officers investigating a crash on U.S. 90 East Federal Avenue down ramp learned Feliciano was the driver of a vehicle that had struck another vehicle on the down ramp. Officers observed there were two small children in his vehicle that were not properly restrained, Blair said.
Feliciano performed poorly on a field sobriety test and later registered 0.212 grams-percent blood alcohol content on a chemical test, Blair said. He was jailed.
—Peggy Ann Fabre, 52, of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:34 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.
An officer conducting a traffic stop on La. 182 identified the driver as Fabre. A computer check revealed her driver’s license was under suspension. Fabre was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Blair said. She was jailed.
—Martine Nicole Minor, 37, of Berwick, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. Monday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear to pay a fine. Minor was located at Berwick Police Department and arrested on City Court of Morgan City warrant. She was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that deputies responded to 118 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—John J. Finister, 26, of La. 182 in Franklin, was arrested at 11:39 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.
—Katelyn Hebert-Bourque, 28, of Allen Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 11:39 p.m. Friday on charges of tail lamps required, driving under suspension and possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription.
A deputy with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office K9 Section was patrolling an area of La. 182 in Morgan City when he observed a vehicle with the rear driver’s side tail lamp not working. The deputy then conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Bourque, and the passenger of the vehicle, identified as Finister .
Bourque admitted to the deputy she was driving with a suspended license, Smith said. Both Bourque and Finister appeared nervous. The deputy asked Bourque for consent to search the vehicle at which she denied, the sheriff said.
K9 Buddy was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff. K9 Buddy was alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Officers with the Morgan City Police Department arrived on scene to assist with the search. During the search, Finister was observed reaching in his waistband pulling out a green canister containing suspected meth. Authorities also found pills inside the vehicle, Smith said.
Bourque was issued a summons to appear in court June 19. Finister was jailed with no bail set.
—Korianne Parker Buck, 30, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:13 a.m. Friday on warrants charging her with failure to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear for disturbing the peace by fighting, and failure to appear for possession of anabolic steroid, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession or distribution of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17 and resisting an officer. Buck turned herself in at parish jail on the warrants. No bail was set.
—Jenna S. Posten, 24, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Friday on warrants charging her with failure to appear for direct contempt, speeding and failure to honor written promise, careless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to honor a written promise to appear.
Posten was located at a business on Allison Street in Morgan City and arrested on the warrants. Posten was jailed with bail set at $740.
—Shelly Marie Lacaze, 41, of Fortins Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:48 p.m. Saturday on warrants charging her with failure to appear for possession of oxycodone, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lacaze was located at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the above-mentioned warrant. Bond has been set at $5,500.
—Aaron Joseph Johnson, 33, of Third Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:22 p.m. Saturday on charges of no taillights, driving under suspension and an Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging him with failure to appear for driving under suspension and signals.
—Demetrius Roy King Green, 30, of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 2:11 a.m. Sunday on charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.
A deputy was patrolling the area of Allison and Justa streets in Morgan City when he observed a vehicle signal without using a turn signal. The deputy then turned around to try and catch up to the vehicle and observed the vehicle cross the fog and center line multiple times, the sheriff said.
A traffic stop was conducted and the deputy identified the driver as Green. After speaking with Green, he admitted to not having a license, Smith said. The deputy also detected a small odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Green gave consent to the deputy to search the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, a small bag of suspected marijuana was located, Smith said. Green was issued a summons to appear in court June 19.
—Seth James Matte, 25, of La. 1011 in Napoleonville, was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Friday on charges of no headlights and driving under suspension.
A deputy was patrolling the area of Duhon Boulevard near Barrow Street in Amelia when he observed a vehicle with an inoperable right headlamp. A traffic stop was conducted and Matte was identified as the driver. A background check on Matte revealed he was driving under suspension, the sheriff said. Matte was jailed with bail set at $1,250.
Patterson Police Chief Garrett Grogan reported the following arrests:
—Wanya M. Francis, 24, of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:57 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with simple battery. Francis posted $455 bail.
—Brandon G. Griffin, 24, of Griffin Court in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 1:51 p.m. Friday on charges of expired motor vehicle inspection sticker, no insurance, suspended driver’s license and switched license plate. Griffin posted $1,071 bail.
—Darla R. Percle, 31, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:28 p.m. Friday on a Franklin police warrant charging her with theft. Percle was transported to the Franklin Police Department with no bail set.
—Crystal B. Duhon, 46, of Fairview Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:28 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear for theft by shoplifting. Bail was set at $1,000.
—Leon J. Williams, 61, of Clements Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:07 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17 years old. No bail was set.
—Trevor I. Thomas, 29, of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging him with open container. Thomas was transported to the Franklin Police Department with no bail set.
—Christopher G. Rood, 38, of Queensberry Drive in Lafayette, was arrested at 3:58 p.m. Saturday on a charge of speeding 20-25 mph over the speed limit. Rood posted $691 bail.
—Lester Thomas Jr., 45, of Hurst Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:29 p.m. Sunday on a charge of suspension, revocation and cancellation of driver’s license. Bail was set at $854.
Berwick Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reported the following arrests:
—Cameron Aucoin, 19, of Monarch Drive in Houma, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. Saturday on a charge of license plate light required and a 16th Judicial District Court warrant charging him with failure to appear for trial. Aucoin posted $1,000 bail.
—Casey Chenevert, 21, of La. 182 in Berwick, was arrested at 4:40 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, entering contraband into a penal institution, violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a drug-free zone and a hold for probation and parole. Bail was set at $10,000.
—Tyrik Singleton, 20, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana less than 14 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice and violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a drug-free zone. No bail was set yet.
—Dontravious Henderson, 20, of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana less than 14 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a drug-free zone. No bail was set yet.
—Martine Minor, 37, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:25 p.m. Sunday on a City Court of Morgan City warrant charging her with failure to appear to pay a fine. Minor was transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
—Samson McKinley, 31, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. No bail was set yet.
—Corey Dupre, 35, of Smith Willow Road in Houma, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of marijuana less than 14 grams. Bail was set at $2,000.
