ROY PERRY THERIOT SR.

February 13, 1935 – February 24, 2019
Roy Perry Theriot Sr., a Plaquemine native, former resident of Centerville, and a resident of Tomball, Texas, passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday, February 24, 2019, in Spring, Texas on what would have been his mother’s 103rd birthday.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Calvary Bible Church in Centerville. Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Centerville Presbyterian cemetery. Reverend Curtis Pace will conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert’s Mortuary on Friday, March 1, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. until time of dismissal at 10:30 a.m.
Roy was born on February 13, 1935, the oldest of ten children born to the late Hazel Ashley Theriot and the late Barney Garrison Theriot Sr. He married Fern Case and had four children, Darlene, Connie and Donnie, and Roy Perry, Jr. He worked for United Gas and its subsidiaries for forty years and retired in 2000. He was an avid guitarist and expertly played a ‘56 Fender Stratocaster for six decades. He organized the popular band The Shadows, who played together in the region from 1959 to 1964. They had a well-attended 50-year reunion in 2014 in Franklin. He was a talented basketball player who played for the Centerville Bulldogs and many adult leagues in the years that followed. He and Fern moved to Houston in the late 1970s and he quickly became a devoted Rockets and Astros fan. He adored his family and rarely missed a recital, graduation, or basketball game.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fern Case Theriot; his daughter, Darlene Braud and her husband Michael Braud; his son, Dr. Roy Perry Theriot, Jr. and his wife Dr. Karen Theriot; grandchildren, Dr. Brandon Braud and his wife Dr. Elizabeth Braud, Dr. Brandi Braud Scully and her husband Dr. Peter Scully, Alison See and her husband Scott See, and Lyndsey Theriot and her fiancé Aaron Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Matilda Scully, Avalyn See, and Michael Braud; and siblings Barney Garrison Theriot Jr. and his wife Charlene, Raye Dumesnil and her husband Louis, Gay Theriot, and Faith Pesson and her husband Lonnie.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Dale Theriot; his daughter, Connie Gale Theriot; his parents, Hazel Ashley and Barney Garrison Theriot Sr.; his sisters, Barbara Woolbright, Janice Sherman, and Ethel Hohnstein; and his brothers, Dalton Theriot and Rodney Theriot.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Brandon Braud, Dr. Peter Scully, Barney Garrison Theriot, Jr., Eddie Case, Donald Stockstill, and Dean Theriot.
