FSH winning streak ended by Ascension Episcopal

Ascension Episcopal School’s Jhalen Brown rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns as the Blue Gators posted a 42-12 District 7-2A victory over the Franklin Hornets Friday at J. C. Dry Stadium.
AES (6-1, 3-0) snapped Franklin’s three-game winning streak. Franklin is now 3-4 overall and 3-1 in District 7-2A after the loss.
In the second quarter, AES built a 21-6 lead when Ethan Leoni caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Cole Simon before Drake Lee kicked the point-after-touchdown.
Brown set sail on a 40-yard scoring jaunt and Lee booted the extra-point, giving AES a 14-0 lead.
Franklin got on the board with a Zariq Perry to Jarius Boyd 10-yard touchdown strike helped the Hornets trimmed AES’ lead to 14-6.
Simon hooked up with Leoni for a 19-yard scoring strike prior to Lee’s kick, sending AES outfront by a 21-6 halftime advantage.
Brown and Seth Kersetter combined on three touchdowns while Lee made good on three PATs to hand the Gators a 42-12 league win over Franklin.
Brown rumbled 41 yards for a score before Kersetter hauled in TD strikes of 50 and 19 yards from Simon before Lee booted the PATs. sending AES out to a 42-12 advantage.
Franklin’s Zariq Perry scored on a 16-yard run in the third stanza as Franklin came up on the short end of a 42-12 loss to AES.
Brown led all runners with 13 carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Asa Freeman finished with seven carries for 45 yards while Cole Simon had 5 carries for 35 yards.
Franklin will play host to Jeanerette on Friday while AES will host Loreauville in District 7-2A.
