Karla Byron wins national photographers honor

Karla Byron was honored with the Professional Photographers of America National Award for meritorious contributions to the professional photography industry.
The bronze and walnut plaque was presented to her by the Professional Photographers of Louisiana, an affliliated association, at the annual convention Southern Pro Xposuer held July 23. The National Award is offered by the association to to state, regional, national and international affiliated organizations on a yearly basis.
First made available in 1958, the award recognizes those who generously contribute their time and talents to the service of their profession, their affiliated organization and their fellow photographers. Selection for the award is determined by the recipient’s peers, adding to its distinction and value.
After working her way up from a board member and being elected to the Executive Committee, Byron served as president, becoming the second person in the 70-year history to serve two terms. Upon her departure from the Executive Committee, Byron was hired as the executive director of Professional Photographers of Louisiana.
