Updated: No major injuries in two-truck crash near Amelia

At about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, two 18-wheeler flatbed trucks were involved in a crash on U.S. 90 east near Amelia. The wreck stalled traffic in both east lanes until about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, said David Spencer, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman. The crash investigation was turned over to state police. Minor injuries were reported in the rear-end crash, said Trooper Thomas Gossen, spokesman for Troop I. The driver of one of the 18-wheelers, Lionel Casiano, 55, of Kenner, was cited for careless operation. He was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, Gossen said. The driver of the other 18-wheeler was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
