Two booked on battery charges for Nov. incident
Two women were booked into jail Thursday on battery charges in connection with a November incident in Morgan City, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Donshea Amos, 29, of Morgan City, was arrested at 10:24 a.m. Thursday on a charge of felony domestic abuse battery.
—Eugena Livas, 47, of Patterson, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Thursday on a charge of simple battery.
Officers located Amos while investigating a separate complaint. A warrants check was done on Amos and she was found to have warrants through the police department.
The warrant stems from a November incident where Amos allegedly used her vehicle to block in a person in another vehicle and then engaged in a physical encounter with the person, Blair said. Livas was also involved in the November incident, Blair said. Livas was arrested after she came to the police department.
Blair reported that officers responded to 34 calls and reported the following arrests:
—Isaac Joseph, 50, of Franklin, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. Thursday on charges of failure to dim headlights, driving under suspension and on 16th Judicial District Court warrants charging him with failure to appear.
A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of La. 182 near David Drive. The officer identified Joseph as the driver of the vehicle. Joseph was driving under suspension and had outstanding warrants for his arrest, Blair said. Joseph was jailed.
—Michael Verdin, 38, of Gray, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. Thursday on charges of improper lane use and operating a vehicle while intoxicated first offense.
An officer patrolling the area of La. 182 and Roderick Street noticed a vehicle swerving in and out of its travel lane. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified Verdin as the driver.
The officer suspected Verdin to be impaired and conducted a field sobriety test, on which Verdin did poorly. Veridin registered 0.132 grams-percent blood alcohol content on a chemical test, Blair said. Verdin was jailed.
