Morgan City’s newest city councilman says he’s ready to learn from city officials to make the best decisions for the people of the city in the midst of tough economic times. During Tuesday’s city council meeting, the council appointed Ray Autrey as interim District 4 councilman to replace James Fontenot, who resigned from the seat Nov. 30. Fontenot attended the meeting to administer the oath of office to Autrey. Fontenot resigned from the city council due to a conflict of interest with a job he started Dec. 1.
