Morgan City officials say the 2018 proposed budget reflects the continuing economic downturn and necessary cuts associated with payroll.
Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi presented his proposed 2018 budget during Tuesday’s city council meeting. The council also introduced the 2017 amended budget during the meeting.
“The proposed 2018 budget takes into account the struggling economy along with an uncertain future,” Grizzaffi said in his budget message.
Morgan City’s fiscal year begins Jan. 1.
Officials intend to spend about $600,000 less from the general fund in 2018 compared to 2017.
