Want to help Harvey's victims? Here's how
Here are some ways that you can help the people affected by Hurricane Harvey.
—American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is accepting donations online and by text. Donators can call 1-800RED CROSS (1-800-7332767) or text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10 to relief efforts. Red Cross is also taking donations via iTunes. Disney has partnered with Red Cross and will host a Day of Giving across all of their cable and social media platforms, such as ABC and Freeform, to assist in relief efforts. Other organizations like Red Cross, such as the Salvation Army and Save the Children, are accepting monetary donations online as well.
—Second Harvest Food Bank
Second Harvest Food Bank is accepting monetary and non-perishable food donations. Canned food items should be items that have a pop top and can be opened without a can opener.
—The United Way
The United Way is accepting monetary donations online and by text. Donators can text HARVEY to 41444 to donate $10 for relief efforts. United Ways throughout Texas and Louisiana are hosting Find the Love Thursday to accept clothing, blankets, sanitation and food donations.
—Crowd sourcing platforms
Online crowd sourcing platforms, such as GoFundMe and GlobalGiving, have several individual relief efforts you can give to. Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt raised $7 million so far on GoFundMe for hurricane relief efforts.
