Flaw in law? Police return weapon to suspect

A Patterson man is out of jail and back in possession of a semi-automatic rifle capable of holding 60 rounds of ammunition after a Tuesday narcotics stop in Patterson. Police Chief Patrick LaSalle says the case is an example of why the state needs to implement more strict laws involving drug and gun crimes. Alonzo Jacquiese Henry, 22, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana second offense, smoking in the presence of a juvenile and child restraint violation.
