Mrs. Damon Bergeron and David Burton are Queen and King of Galatea LIV. They were presented Saturday during the women’s Krewe of Galatea tableau titled, “Galatea’s Flight of Fancy,” held at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. In keeping with the theme, the queen depicted Marie Laveau and the king was Le Feu Follet. The krewe will present its parade at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 in Morgan City.
Only four Mardi Gras balls remain as the local Carnival season hits its peak.
A barge strike on the La. 182 bridge led to the structure's closure overnight.

The La. 182 bridge over Berwick Bay was closed overnight Saturday because of a barge strike, then was reopened by lunchtime Sunday after a state inspection.
