FRANKLIN — After two years of budget struggles, Parish President Sam Jones on Wednesday asked the Parish Council to consider limiting the amount of debt on the government’s books.

The Morgan City Council’s attention turned to real estate Tuesday.
East St. Mary Parish now has an Atchafalaya Gateway Trail.

Makayla Miller, a senior at Hanson Memorial High School in Franklin, received a $300 grant-in-aid from the Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International in St. Mary Parish. Representing Chi Chapter from left are Sue Price, with Makayla Miller in the center, and Robbie LeBlanc. Each year Chi Chapter awards this grant to an outstanding female graduate who plans to attend college and major in education. Makayla will attend Nicholls State University.
