A Morgan City man has been arrested on an attempted murder charge in Wednesday's shooting near a Grizzaffi Street mobile home park. The victim is in critical condition, Morgan City Police said.

Red-jacketed members of the Delta Sigma Theta's chapter serving St. Mary and Jeanerette met with council members Tuesday. Members of the service sorority are appearing at governmental meetings this month in support of Red and White Day and talking about their involvement with educational development, economic development, international awareness, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement.
Members of the Berwick Town Council on Tuesday recognized achievement, heard about a service organization and received a check for almost $32,000.
