Team South Carolina pulls 3-1 win over Louisiana

Team Louisiana to play Florida today

Lumberton, NORTH CAROLINA —Team South Carolina managed to pull out a 3-1 win over Team Louisiana here Tuesday in the 2018 Dixie Youth Majors World Series at Northeast Park at the Pennington Athletic Complex.
South Carolina (4-0) remained the only undefeated team in the DYB World Series following the narrow 3-1 decision over Louisiana (2-1).
Team Louisiana Manager Clint Judice said his players fought hard against South Carolina.
“It was another hard fought battle and we couldn’t string together enough hits against another really good pitcher,” he said.
South Carolina built a 2-0 lead over Louisiana before earning the 3-1 win.
Louisiana pitchers Landon Walden, Alonzo Alexander and Ethan Judice all worked two innings each on the bump in the battle of the undefeated teams.
Louisiana’s Gabe Hebert and Ethan Judice manufactured the Franklin 12-year-old All-Stars’ run.
Judice reached on a base knock before advancing to third base where Hebert laid down the perfect sacrifice bunt to deliver him as Louisiana managed to slice South Carolina’s lead to 3-1.
Louisiana collected four hits against South Carolina. Alonzo Alexander went 2 for 2 while Loren Wells was 1 for 3 and Ethan Judice batted 1 for 2.
In Tuesday’s other games, North Carolina eliminated Virginia, 3-0 while Florida staved off elimination with a 10-1 triumph over Georgia.
On tap for tonight, Louisiana will square off against Florida in Game 20 at 5:45 p.m. in a rematch from Sunday after Louisiana carved out a heart-clutching 1-0 victory.
South Carolina and North Carolina will also play tonight in Game 21 at 8.
South Carolina heads into tonight’s action at 4-0 while North Carolina is 3-1 with Louisiana and Florida holding identical 2-1 marks.
South Carolina recorded its perfect 4-0 record with wins over Tennessee (7-2), Alabama (10-0), Georgia (7-1) and Louisiana (3-1).
North Carolina boasts a 3-1 record with wins over Texas (19-0), Mississippi (4-0) and Virginia (3-0) along with a 14-8 loss to Georgia.
Louisiana is currently 2-1 with wins over Virginia (4-0) and Florida (1-0) along with last night’s 3-1 loss to South Carolina.
Florida is 2-1 after rallying from a 1-0 loss to Louisiana on Sunday. Florida bounced back to post a 13-2 triumph over Alabama along with a 10-1 win over Georgia.
Two games are on tap tonight setting up Thursday’s championship showdown in the 2018 DYB World Series.
