Rack named to LHC committee chairmanship
Two-time Purple Heart recipient Willie Rack of Franklin has been selected to chair the Louisiana Housing Corporation’s (LHC) Administrative & Finance Committee.
Rack represents the 3rd congressional district and was appointed to the LHC board of directors by Governor John Bel Edwards in April 2016.
After a distinguished 25-year career as a law enforcement officer, he retired from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department. Prior to his career in law enforcement, Rack served in the U.S. Marine Corp. During this time, he received numerous meritorious accolades, including two Purple Hearts for his bravery during the Vietnam War.
“Mr. Rack’s commitment to serving others is evident by his willingness to serve our country. He shares the same honor code as Governor Edwards who appointed him,” LHC Board Chairman Lloyd “Buddy” Spillers said. “His unwavering dedication to advancing programs that support veterans and those in need is vital to this agency.”
As chair of the Administrative & Finance Committee, Rack oversees policy recommendations including, but not limited to, the general administrative and financial management of the agency. He is also a member of the Multifamily & Assets Committee.
“Whether it’s on the battlefield or in the boardroom, it’s always a pleasure to serve,” Rack said. “My goal is to ensure that we develop housing policies that stabilize families and enrich communities. I will also continue to fight for more resources that benefit veterans across the state.”
In 2017, LHC invested more than $14 million in apartment and home developments, which is projected to benefit 1,624 working households, and financed nearly $68 million in mortgage loans - making homeownership a reality and more affordable for 451 homebuyers across the state.
LHC is governed by a board of 11 members consisting of the State Treasurer, six members appointed by the Governor, two by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House representing various housing sectors and the public.
