Port of WSM moving ahead on projects

Reid Miller of Miller Engineers & Associates reported to the board of the Port of West St. Mary Tuesday that the awaited air compressor comprising Phase I of a three-phase DOTD project, has been delivered, and is on site at the port.
He went on to say the compressor should be operational within a couple of weeks, with the assistance of Trio Compressed Air Systems, to whom it was agreed among board members to pay $91,822, with the remaining 10 percent of their original agreed upon price to be available upon completion of certification of the compressor.
Port Executive Director David Allain reported on the Port Priority Project as well, saying that the DOTD compliance with certification with public bid laws concerning the overhead crane and fencing of Phase II was “done.” He requested approval of a motion for a geological survey to be conducted through GeoEngineers, Inc. for $9,800 to begin next week. The motion was carried.
Miller closed his report by confirming the canopy for Phase II of the DOTD project is set to be delivered by the end of the month, if everything goes well.
It was noted in the mid-year budget report that operational expenditures were higher than originally anticipated for 2018, so far, but the remainder of the year’s projects will need to produce their necessary budgetary effects for any overages to meter out in an accurate ledger.
