Older Americans Month made official by local public bodies

A proclamation was signed at Franklin City Hall, Tuesday, proclaiming May as Older Americans Month.
The proclamation was signed by Franklin Mayor Raymond Harris, Baldwin Mayor Donna Lanceslin and St. Mary Parish President David Hanagriff.
The document confers on the elderly, for the month, efforts toward exceptional inclusion in local communities, and calls for a redefining of what it means “to age…for the better.”
Beverly Domengeaux, executive director of St. Mary Council on Aging said, “This says to the seniors, ‘I’m here for you,’ and Raymond, Donna and David, we really appreciate all you do for seniors, and have done.
“I want to thank you on behalf of the seniors, because we are a forgotten people.”
