Oaklawn Bridge replacement to begin

The single-lane bridge crossing Bayou Teche in the Oaklawn area will be replaced beginning Tuesday.
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development officials announced that beginning Tuesday, Jan. 30 through Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019 La. 323, the Oaklawn Bridge approach road, between La. 87 and Irish Bend Road will be closed to traffic for bridge replacement.
No oversized or permit loads will be permitted during this closure.
The detour will consist of La. 87, La. 182 and La. 322.
The bridge was erected in 1941.
DOTD reminds drivers to drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
