Man arrested in Oklahama suspected in Baldwin death

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Ansulm reported this morning that Russell Anthony Richard Jr., 51, of Baldwin, was arrested by Oklahoma City Police and is awaiting an extradition hearing on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery.
Richard had been sought in connection with the Dec. 18, 2016 death of Reynell Lockett Richard.
In 2016, an officer with the Baldwin Police Department found the body of 45-year-old Reynell Richard near the intersection of the US 90 overpass and the Baldwin Cut in Baldwin.
Detectives identified 51-year-old Russell Anthony Richard as a possible witness/person of interest in the case and asked for the public’s assistance in locating him in reference to the ongoing death investigation.
Questions regarding his arrest should be directed to the arresting agency, the Oklahoma City Police Department.
